1Day 1: Arrive at George Airport South AfricaYou’ll arrive at George Airport in South Africa, situated just 51 kilometers from Mossel Bay – your new home base for the next 6 nights and 5 days of fishing. You’ll be collected by one of our Go Fish Africa guides for a 35-minute drive to your BnB or Airbnb-style accommodation in Mossel Bay. The rest of the day is spent getting to know your guides. Trip planning will be discussed with you, including pickup times for the start of your first session. From there, we adjust each day based on success – we don’t follow a fixed time schedule, but rather what the ocean, tides, and weather give us. You’re free to spend the rest of your arrival day familiarising yourself with the beautiful coastal town of Mossel Bay and having a bite at one of the many fantastic local restaurants close to your accommodation.
-
2Day 2: Familiarising Yourself & Getting on your FeetDay one of fishing is always a bit of an adjustment, as you find your feet and start to learn the fish’s feeding habits and the techniques our guides show you. The rods are long the techniques are unique. Pick up on your shortfalls and celebrate getting on the board – catching your first fish – on day one of your South Africa fishing expedition.
-
3Day 3: Fishing TechniquesMore familiar with your surroundings and the fishing techniques, day 2 of fishing is often the most exciting for you as a fisherman. Eager to use what you learnt yesterday, you go out motivated and excited to catch some of what this beautiful coastline has to offer.
-
4Day 4: Your found your feet & on your way to your bucket list! You continue to learn, and by now you’ve found your feet and hopefully you’re enjoying some good fish activity. By now you should have a realistic expectation of the trip, and you’ll have ticked a few fish off your bucket list. The next few days are about growing that list and catching more. It’s possible that by now you’re willing to make certain sacrifices to ensure you get your dream catch for the trip. For example: skip the a high activity session to target a trophy shark or specie that’s not yet been ticked off. Or visa versa
-
5Day 5: Another early start & a full day on the waterAnother full day on the water. By now you know the drill, and it’s all about putting in the time to chase down more of what’s on your list. The fishing rhythm feels natural now, and every cast still holds the chance of something special. Enjoy the process — this is what you came for.
-
6Day 6: The final day of fishing-make it countYour last day of fishing — and it’ll have flown by. You’ll probably already be wishing you’d added an extra day to the trip. We take this day as it comes. If there’s a fish you’ve had your heart set on and haven’t landed yet, this is the day we go all in on it!
-
7Day 7: The final day of fishing-make it countYour last morning on our shores. For many, it’s one final session before heading home — soaking up the last bit of sunrise, the last cast, maybe one more crack at that fish that got away earlier in the week. By now you’ll know the beach, you’ll know the guides, and you’ll understand exactly why we do this. Our guides will safely transport you from your accommodation to George Airport for your departure from our sunshine shores of South Africa.
General FAQ's
We prefer to get on a call with every client before booking, so we can understand exactly what you’re after and recommend the right fit. Our Kanon Cape Vacca package is a great option if you’re coming with at least 3 friends, while Standard and Premier suit smaller groups or solo travellers.

f you’re travelling from abroad, we wouldn’t recommend anything less than 5 days of fishing — and where possible, we’ll always recommend 7. Our coastline is highly productive, so even if you run into a stretch of unlucky weather or rough seas, staying for 7 days means you’ll almost certainly hit one mind-blowing belter day of fishing.
All our trips are suitable for beginners — you’re in expert hands, and we’ll coach you through the process quickly. That said, more experienced anglers will get more out of the trip. For example, they tire less quickly, so they’re able to land more fish in a day.
Fishing FAQ's
We offer arguably the most targetable species from shore over 500g anywhere in the world, making Mossel Bay an ultimate destination for species hunters. For the full breakdown of what’s on offer, visit our SPECIES tab.
A question many outfits avoid answering — we average between 3 and 15 strikes a day. Some days of trophy hunting can mean just one bite or none at all, while others bring non-stop action from sunrise to sunset — and this isn’t a rare, one-off occurrence, it happens multiple times each season. Strike numbers also depend on your target species and chosen tactic. Our aim is a minimum of one 100kg+ shark per person over a 5-day period, with plenty of fish over 20kg (but under 100kg) landed in between. Some groups leave having landed 15-20 fish over 100kg, but 9 times out of 10, everyone leaves with at least one.
Mossel Bay boasts a very stable climate, and during the summer months it’s unlikely you’ll hit an unfishable day. On top of that, Mossel Bay has a great variety of areas and positions to fish from, so if there’s a certain swell or wind, we generally have a spot that still gives us a good shot — meaning you don’t lose a day of fishing.
We practice catch and release on all our big shark species. Efficient handling and safety are at the core of everything the Go Fish Africa team does.
Logistics FAQ's
You’ll fly internationally into either Cape Town or Johannesburg, then catch a short domestic flight to George Airport. From there, we’ll collect you and transfer you straight to Mossel Bay.
Absolutely — non-fishing partners are welcome to join for a small daily fee, which covers their accommodation, lunch and transfers. The exact cost depends on your group size and package, so get in touch with us on WhatsApp +27743146651 or email info@gofishtours.com and we’ll confirm the details for your trip.
Booking & Practical Questions
